BILLING REPRESENTATIVE

Our client, a leader in developing the best patient care is looking to fill a Billing Representative position at the office located in Atlanta, GA. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: Under general supervision, coordinates billing functions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and maximum financial return; ensures  billing compliance; maintains knowledge of e, billing codes, rules, and regulations; audits medical documents; serves as resource to faculty and staff.
 
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:
• Codes ultrasound procedures for billing by reviewing Reports and other source documents and identifying or verifying the correct CPT and ICD codes; captures and generates charges for inpatient and/or outpatient visits and procedures; maintains knowledge base of correct coding practices. 
• Accurately enter prior authorization information into the computer system.
• Ensure appropriate feedback and follow-up with all prior authorization requests.
• Assists patients and guarantors with billing and reimbursement issues; follows-up with payment denials; edits and enters charges for physician radiology billing by verifying and keying charge data into the billing system. 
• serves as resource to faculty and staff; prepares reports. 
• Performs other duties as assigned. 
• Responsible for insurance claims follow-up 
• Maintains appropriate copies and reports on all follow up claims.
• Submit approval for all contractual adjustments and write off on account.
• Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone and correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
• Assist with posting charges

• Ability to perform basic bookkeeping and compile statistics 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience equivalent to:
High school diploma; supplemented with two (2) years of progressive professional billing experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
