Our client, the largest provider of temperature controlled warehousing and distribution services in the U.S., is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join their team at their Corporate office in Atlanta, GA.
Primary Responsibility:
Support tax, legal, accounting and financial reporting requirements of the Company. This is a key member of management with responsibilities for the tax function of a $1.6 billion, multi-national company which includes a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and Taxable REIT Subsidiaries.
Essential Functions:
  • Review and manage the worldwide preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions supporting tax footnotes, work-papers and analysis of effective tax rates, including ASC 740 and FIN 48 or other GAAP guidance.
  • Responsible for coordinating the preparation and review of all corporate, partnership and other legal entities federal, state and local income and franchise tax filings for United States and Canada.
  • Lead the data collection and analysis used in the Companys transfer price studies.
  • Responsible for providing income and other non-income tax leadership to the foreign subsidiaries with respect to tax provisions, returns, transfer price and audits.
  • Responsible for coordinating intercompany dividends with other departments including appropriate analysis, documentation, tax withholding, reporting and deposits.
  • Responsible for coordinating quarterly and annual dividends to shareholders including appropriate documentation, tax withholding, reporting and deposits.
  • Manage and/or provide coordination of the sales and use and property tax functions for over 30 states.
  • Responsible for managing and/or assisting with audits of income, sales and use, property taxes.
  • Perform research regarding tax and accounting issues and prepare memoranda including facts, issues, authoritative guidance, discussion and conclusions.
  • Assist with worldwide tax planning and cash tax minimization strategies, implementation of tax planning and strategy for new deals and agreements, aiding with the creation of new entities, proposed transactions and researching tax saving strategies in income, sales and use and property taxes.
  • Ensure tax files and documentation are properly recorded for compliance under SOX 404 regulations
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting income taxes.
  • Partner with the Director of Tax in supporting Company strategic goals and plans.
  • Coach, train, recruit, hire, and appraise team members.
  • Build relationships and partner with departments within the organization.
  • Direct supervision of the day to day operations of the Tax group.

Experience and Skills
Qualifications & Experience:
Education, Training & Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA or Masters in Tax required
Minimum of 10 years relative tax experience with providing tax compliance and tax advisory services:
  • With 4 of those years within public accounting (preferably with a Big 4 or Major National / Regional firm within the tax field)
With 2 of those years in publicly traded corporation
Strong technical tax experience required, specifically:
  • REIT
  • Accounting for income taxes
  • Corporate / Partnership taxation for federal, foreign, state and local income tax returns
  • Strong skill set and experience with data analysis in support of tax and accounting planning scenarios
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and the ability to research technical accounting issues and apply them accordingly.
Experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access and accounting software systems
Knowledge & Employment Standards:

Salary: $110k - $125k
